    got an all black cd today. never seen one before, but it does work. amazed tbh



    a vinyl replica... but playing surface is gloss black

    I have one that is black on what should be the silver side. Can’t for the life of me remember what band it is though. I’ve only the one and it gave me quite a surprise when I opened up the box.

    I have some Wishbone Ash ones (collectors editions) that are black. I thought the same as you that they would not play. But they work just fine and good sound to boot.

    seems they are fairly common... ive had black on label side before but not on play side. great album by way, and has the full version of streetlife t'boot.

    My copy of Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet is black on both playing and label side, sounds excellent. Didn’t think that black on black was that popular though.

    The games for the first PlayStation model were all black discs. Not sure why.

    On the recommendation of the German HiFi magazine Stereo I bought a couple of boxes of BASF black CD-R blanks. They were supposed to sound better. Initially, I was very pleased with the recordings made, but they have not aged well. Several have become unplayable, a problem that I have not had with cheap CD-Rs from Woolworths!
