Well this is the 'bullshitting' thread, so that's a perfectly good excuse.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Only if you're blinkered and have a biased agenda [which incidentally threads like this are great at exposing] would you consider Ollie's behaviour as such, or indeed anyone else here guilty of simply 'bigging up' (no pun intended) something that they consider as excellent.

In that respect, there's *no way* on this earth that anyone here will be asked to curb their natural enthusiasm towards a piece of equipment, which has sonically blown them away, simply because some find it annoying, or it irks a few jealous idiots elsewhere, desperate for attention, who suffer from issues of inadequacy.

Who with, Gary? Certainly no-one here. I'm simply making a general observation on behaviour I often witness on other forums

As far as I can ascertain you are talking about someone who clearly and explicitly has a business partnership with another AoS Trade member previously mentioned in this thread and as such is bound to 'big up' their products - sorry if I fail to grasp the point your are making here.

I'm agreeing with your sentiments below (and how to deal with the matter correctly), because as you say, that's simply the nature of enthusiast-led forums:

Alan and Oliver, if they consider it justified to do so, are entitled to praise each other and/or their respective products if they so wish, just the same as other traders here are, and sometimes do. It's not guaranteed evidence of shilling though, or any other underhand behaviour, unless your biased way of thinking (or agenda/shilling mania) chooses to interpret it that way.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Indeed, it always amazes me how some are so keen to jump to such negative conclusions about people, rather than the opposite, which is usually nearer the truth!

For me, if you think that way, then it says more about YOU, and your own hangups, than the person you're criticising.
