From what I have found out about it Oliver it looks like and extremely well designed amp. Lots about how it measures but nothing on how it sounds, will be very interested on how you find it.

Sorry for the bulk answer but:

Thank you! I'm looking forward to giving it a listen.

No, my decision was not totally made on measurements alone because that doesn't tell the whole story. The Neurochrome amps are well regarded by those who own them, one person being Simon (makes the paradise phonostage) who seems to have a very informed opinion on them and has also owned a Big Krell.

It was that, the words of amazement in hearing Simons amps from JohnG in a Pm a while back and the fact that I just want to try them that pushed me to make the jump.

Yes, I have sold the Krell to pay for an amplifier that I haven't heard, seen or can actually use when it gets here because my cables all have the wrong connections lol.

Am I a crazy mofo? You better believe it lol

Personally, I know I don't do things in the most linear fashion but I can't find any way of trying all this great gear for free so you either don't try them or you have to buy them. Every bit of kit I have ever owned was a blind punt except the Kb and the FB Monos, so I have no issue with this approach.

In fact, I'd encourage a bit of random behaviour, it's good for the soul.

The Krell is going to a guy who will absolutely appreciate it and who I know will get it at its optimum performance.

    I'm happy.

Oh the jeopardy, you have the Nation gripped! It’s like reliving the Cricket World Cup 'Super Over' all over again!

When are you thinking of ordering it? Do you think you will build it or buy one fully built? I know how impatience you are.

    Hi Rob,

Well, yes. Impatient shit me lol

Fully built, on the way for the first week in August as I'm away next week.

I'm going to change the speakon connectors to binding posts or add a set. I just can't get my cables in a speakon and my OCD isn't happy that the output wires are a different length so I'll do that too.

Other than that, I'll be up and running in no time.

Ironic really. Before you bought the Krell there was a whole load of people trying to talk you out of it. Now there's a whole load of people trying to talk you out of parting with it.

Haha, Macca, that is exactly what I thought when I paid Tom for the Amp.

The "outcry" at considering the lumbering, powerhungry, ceiling melting Krell was abundant. I remember it well and had a Re read of that thread to nick a couple of pictures

Now I'm bonkers again. Fickle bunch lol.

To be fair, Alan brought an amp round for my hearing check earlier and I did sit here listening to the Krell thinking "What have I done!"

However, one must continue to upturn the table and make advances. Whether it be in sound quality or experience. I'll gain something from this move.
