Been giving a lot of thought to the caps in the DCB1 and what I'm going to do about it.

After a lot of deliberation I realised that in the BigBottle, I am absolutely convinced that the Vishay capacitors as as good as it gets, so why not try that here.

I have ordered 4x 4700uf vishay caps and will fit them when they arrive. Hopefully they will do the trick.

Me too. More expensive than the Mundorfs or the Nichicon. I'm pretty confident though as the Vishay stuff is always good quality.

In typical "Bigman" style, I pass up multiple speakers because they'll be too big, or rear ported.

SO what do I do? Buy speakers that are too big and rear ported

Ladies and gentlemen meet the Mordaunt Short Performance 880

Speakers are in decent condition actually but the grill on one set needs a repair as the clips are missing.

    Build quality is just superb.

Anyone got some spare bungs for the bass?

Oh my giddy aunt, what have you done?
I have a large piece of foam you could cut some bungs from.

What are they like, to echo Macca's question?

First thing I noticed was the imaging. They have made the space feel bigger. Tonally, they are well balanced especially as I have now pulled them out about 50cm from the back wall. Bass is deep, certainly hearing what macca was saying in terms of missing octaves. They are here now lol.

Scale is BIG, imaging is excellent, nice and precise soundstage, detail retrieval is good but I haven't listened properly for nuances etc, I haven't had a chance. It's all far more refined so seems like a big change.

Only had 30mins with them as I had to go to works but I am very impressed so far.

Refinement was what the Pioneers were missing so that has to be a positive step.

You'll be able to listen to proper music like Earth Wind And Fire now without complaining about the recording quality

lol, I don't think id choose to!

Yes, I can hear that there is something about them that screams Top Class. Tonally, after I understood the manual, the Pioneers and the MS are not far apart so I am taking that as a win for the Pioneers TBH. The super tweeter needs to be on to flatten the response. If only id known!

What size Oliver? I’ve got some solid rubber ones I had made for a pair of Ruarks kicking about somewhere, you’re welcome to them if they’ll fit.
