You have an inbuilt tone control in the form of ALSA mixer, just enable it and play...

Oli, what is the cost of the Katana you tested with all the optional linear power supplies, isolator, etc?

    So total cost is ~700USD.

In comparison the PecanPi currently is $225 and power supply is included in that price. Even with case it is $350.

Iíve heard mention of Nirvana power supply but have no idea on likely timeline for commercial shipment or indeed specification.

    Hello ,

yes in fact we have developed a new LPS with dual outputs 5V/3A and 5V/1.5A

Pricing will be around 160$ (or less) (add taxes if you live in EU)

Should be out in a few weeks. The noise on our new LPS is about 0.08uV on both outputs/full load

I am not sure that I fallow the controversy (might been the removed posts) but I think both Pecan PI and Katana are good DACs.

The key difference is that Katana lets you reach higher SQ using more PSUs for those of you that are so inclined . As I said multiple 5V psu will increase the SQ ...but the highest increase in SQ comes from adding linear dual rails to the opamp stage.

Katana is rather targeted to DIY crowds that like to play and tinker with their toys.

For those of you that would rather have a easy solution , working from one PSU...not to worry, we heard you and we are working on it.

A mainly digital setup with a musical amplifier and endearing 1970's speakers. A CD player that hardly ever gets used and a turntable that is good enough to remind my how enjoyable my old vinyl is. Some cables and things.

    Orchardaudio ,

Even though we sell competing devices , honesty has value.

PecanPI streamer is in fact at 399$. in the same configuration. Katana steamer with Isolator is at 370$. Both units will have a 22% tax when sent to EU

The main problem with interference and digital noise that Oliver is reporting comes from the fact that there is no isolation between RPI and DAC. Depending on your setup , you might (or not) hear it.

In any case , it is my belief that both Pecan and Katana are good units in their own way.

Meanwhile , please , take the time , enjoy the music with whatever DAC you have. This is why we are all here..right ?
