    Default Replacement car headlight bulbs

    Hi all.

Has anyone ever replaced their headlight bulbs to the brighter type?

My car has the standard H1 bulbs but recently I found that technology has moved on quite a bit. Osram, Philips, Sylvania all have extra bright bulbs.

Apart from synvania they have a long life too.

    Anyone changed over to them?

One thing I really don't want to do is go with blue coloured bulbs as they look boy racer prattish.

The results differ; some say they don't last as long, some they they are as reliable as normal bulbs. I have a set of Osram nightbreakers waiting to be fitted, that were cheap on Amazon. Keep an eye on them coming down in price again.

Hi, thanks. Yes it was the night breakers I was looking at.

Are you having them fitted soon. It would be interesting to know your opinions.

I have the GE Megalight Ultra +130 fitted.
They are bright, and work well.

Keep your fingers off the glass when fittingbthem, and they should last quite a while.

Conversion kits are illegal and dangerous as HID need a different reflector compared to normal bulbs.
Fit a kit and you have a high chance of failing the next MOT.

I've got those automatic headlights. Adjust to traffic and light. I just leave them in auto all time. Seem plenty bright to me.

Then why are they feely for sale all over the place? In any case, the conversion angle wasn't really my point. It was more to have Xenons fitted, if necessarily from scratch, as performance-wise, they piss all over any other lights!

They are for “off road use only”. What you really need is the new LED lights.

Xenon are brilliant. My last car had them but not this one.

The cost of conversion is prohibitive unfortunately.

So I'm just trying to improve on what I have.

The current bulbs are like driving with candles and I get so dazzled with LED headlights on other cars. IMO LED lights should be banned, they are way too bright.
