BTW K. Fiske told me he reviewed the AN molybdenum in Hi-Fi Critic. I haven't read it.

He is well qualified to comment.

And BTW the Chinese Shuguang, which is almost certainly what the Chelmers are, are very very good considering the cost. The GEs are not massively better.

Thanks for all the help everyone, much appreciated. I looked at the AN website and saw the 211’s they are now using. More money than I want to spend really but the cheaper PSvane ones look better built than they used to be, may go for a pair of these.
    Pete.

Main amp is an Electrocompaniat eci2 Sony qs930 cd, Sony tuner,Stan dac, modified x10d with little pinkie se and of course Quad esl57s fully serviced with much better legs and widgets. Sometimes swap to my kef reference 3s or Rogers pro9 Tls.

Excuse the typos above on a mobile. Hate soft keyboards though more time spent checking what I have typed would help.

There are so many Psvane valves available now it is crazy. Even just for 211s.

I'm not qualified to comment having never heard any Psvane 211. The molybdenum ones would be a big risk for me especially at Ł2K for a quad.

It's a risk I choose not to take

Have a look at post 50 on my thread. Perhaps a bit less sweet than the GE but more bass and livelier. They strike an excellent middle price territory for the 211. Recommended.

The other advantage is that this is a local supplier so much easier to seek restitution if DOA

Thanks Chris, those 211 Tll valves look Nearer my price range. I see you have one of Simon’s amps. Mine is a pretty bespoke one with the massive capacitor in about 10 inches long, my amp weighs 70kgs, takes 2 of us to move it.
Love Simons amps l had a pair of open baffle speakers, they were awesome.

P.S. Could you tell me where you bought your 211Tll,s ? You mentioned they were a local supplier.

Hi Pete you should put your system in your signature. I didn't know you had a Transcription Audio amp. I am very pleased with my amp. Like yours it has the big capacitor and also C Core output transformers which kicks it up another level.

My valves came from Hot Rox UK. I think Simon also bought from them and liked them.
