Default Looking for someone to re-cover 4 x speaker grills Sony SS-7200

    Hi All,

    I have 4 x Sony SS-7200 speakers.

My cat has taken a liking to the grills and has scratched the hell out of one of them.

I really would prefer to have them recovered in as near to original grill cloth as I could find, but I'm worried the cat will damage them even more so was thinking about some sort of alloy.

Is anyone aware of a company or person that could do this for me, I would try myself but after looking at the design of the frame I fear I would damage them even more.

I have tried to attach images in the link below.

    Thanks in advance.

Easy enough to redo them. You can get material on ebay. I use carpet spray glue on frame but there are other ways.
    Not sure re alloy covers

Sony SS-7200 - my first ever hifi speakers.

Recovering the grilles may be tricky as the frame looks like it may be an intricate design. Attractive but might make access difficult!

I had a pair of these a couple of years ago , the cloth is not like other speaker in that it’s kind of almost wool like in its appearance so good luck finding something the same. I would undo the corner of one grill first then copy how that was attached and continue copying all the way around. Make sure the fabric is straight/level on the grill frame before you start .

I wouldnt use any sort of alloy cover for the grille as it will adversely affect the sound. You'd be better off re-covering them as close to original as possible, and instilling some discipline into your cats!

I'd start by making sure they are not allowed into the room where the speakers are when you're not there, and then keeping a flower sprayer full of water nearby when you are in the room with them. As soon as they start approaching the speakers, say "NO" firmly and spray them in the face with the water. Trust me - they'll soon get the message!
