It was a nice day today. Starting with 4 degrees C at 8:30am going to over 20 in the afternoon. Sunny and nice. Ideal for biking. We have made some 40 km in a lazy mode. We had a nice lunch as well - fried carp, french fries and tomato salad, which made the 20 km on the way back a real challenge for me.

Yesterday's trip out round Dorking way with my brothers, found it quite hard going, v hilly and conditions were wet / boggy so we were slow. My app also lost connection so didn't record the full extent of the ride.

    I'm resurrecting this tread!

Last year was a personal cycling write off tbh, I worked all through covid and really lost all passion for exercising in general.

But new year new start and all that and tbh I've really missed getting out and about (plus I've deffo piled on the lbs over the last months)

I've set myself a target of 2021km across the year split between cycling and walking (gotta keep the dog happy).

As an incentive to myself I bought a new ride which should be a great do everything bike. Steel frame, chunky tyres, flat bars, shimano groupset, loads of mounting points for every possible luggage option. It's a GENESIS CDF20 gravel bike so made for a mixture of road and off road.

I took it out on Sunday and although I've done very little riding lately managed a cold but very enjoyable 50k loop around Liverpool.

Can't wait to test it further!

Waiting to take mine out. Too cold for me at the moment, my days of cycling all year round are over.

I wasnt expecting the saddle to be as comfy as it was. Was feeling it a bit towards the end of the ride but was pleasantly surprised with it so won't rush to change it out just yet.

Looks a great bike Ben, Genesis make some great machines. I bought a Specialized Gravel bike called the Diverge a few years back and really loved it as it felt a bit like my road bike but you could tackle some off road singletrack on it aswell.

What are the tyres you have on the GENESIS, mine are a bit more like slics but I need some knobblies for the roads at the moment because they are so terrible during this winter weather.

    Hi Ben, nice looking bike.

I don't know if you are aware, but there is a good bike forum "cycle chat". They have lots of quite active discussions/advice etc on MTB's etc (I tend to spend quite a bit of time on the "vintage" section as I enjoy doing up old steel bikes as a pastime, photo is one of my favourites )

I am a bit of a "fair weather cyclist", so looking forward to spring and drier roads.
