The car is ruing the picture. Just because of the super wide iPhone screen 😊

I've just bought the Mrs this. It's a calibre rake 29, pretty cheap but gets great reviews and in all honesty it does not feel a lot less than my trek which was twice the price. Anyway it will be perfect as an entry point for my wife to start getting out into the countryside with me.

This bike is quite good for a start.
These are our MTBs - basic Scotts but more than enough for our needs and way of use.

Been a while since I've updated this thread and tbh I've been a bit lazy with the cycling lately, however I did get out at the weekend with the Mrs which was a good laugh. She's no where near as fit as me but loves her new mtb and is keen to get out on it more.

We had a couple of hours around Delamere forest on Sunday morning, no massive hills but lots of undulating fire tracks so that got the heart rate up, it's a perfect training ground for a new rider I think.

Despite not riding much lately I've still been busy with a few nice upgrades for the bike, these being a new set of better specc'd forks and a much improved tubeless ready wheelset. The forks have a bit more travel, a greater range of adjustment and are air sprung too.

I'm going to try and get out on it later for a bit of a shake down test before a much longer ride at the weekend.

Had a really good, challenging morning out riding the Surrey hills with my 2 bothers, my 14 Yr old nephew and an old school mate on Saturday morning.

I was expecting to really struggle as I'd had an upset stomach since the Tuesday before meaning a few days off work spent alternating between shivering in bed and explosive visits to the toilet. Was totally my own fault and suffice to say Ive learn a valuable food safety lesson.

Anyway that said Saturday morning I felt almost back to normal but still set off with a bag packed with spare immodium capsules as well as spare toilet roll just in case!

The ride was v hilly but I actually felt pretty fresh, and was surprised how much more lively the bike felt with the new wheelset, it definitely felt easier on the uphill climbs I guess due to reduced weight of the wheels. The new forks also feel a lot more sophisticated so I was v pleased with both.

Over the course of 4 hours, 35k and some huge hills we all had a really good laugh even when one of us snapped a chain and we managed to bodge a repair that got us home.

I have to say the the Surrey hills around Dorking / box Hill are absolutely stunning for mtbing.

I feel like I've got the bug again now, il be out again looking for hills next week.
