I'd rather have a sore arse than have that on my bike!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Pleased with today's little outing, only 25k total but was split up by an hour of crossfit at the gym.

I'd forgotten just how fast feeling a road bike is, even with the slightly wider tyres it's still v v nimble and has a great turn of pace. On the downside it's deffo harder going on my lower back and I was starting to feel a bit of a niggle with it towards the end.

Things to note, I think I need some new brake pads on it as they felt weak, and the gears could do with some fine adjustment too.

Still 25k bike, 4k run, 60 box step ups and 50 9kg wall balls isn't too bad going.

Il enjoy tonight's bbq slightly more for it I know that!

Out again early this morning over to moel famau in North Wales.

Expanded my horizons a bit and found a fairly challenging 20 mile loop.

Plenty of hills that's for sure, I had to push in a few spots here and there.

According to my strava I improved in a couple of sectors from a few weeks ago, so I'm really pleased with that.

Only 5 more weeks till outmr big challenge so got to step it up more for the next few weeks before tapering it off.

Don't the local council object to you leaving a brown trail everywhere you go

Like your style Ben and hats off to you.

When you started the thread i thought it was a case of getting back on the bike but you've properly covered miles on good wheels and been to some lovely spots in the process - excellent !

Cheers mate, you know what I've really been enjoying myself in the process, way more so than I expected when I bought the bike back at the start of the year.

Actually getting out into the countryside is really enjoyable, it's a challenge too. There's something quite special standing at the top of a big hill surveying the route up thinking "I've done that, what's next".

I've somehow managed to string together a couple of months worth of regular cycling and crossfit sessions twice a week and and feel like I'm in a relatively decent shape to take on the south downs way in a months time.

Current thinking is "BRING IT ON"

North Wales again but only managed 26k, the hills got the better of me this morning I think.

I was out on the trail by just after 9am and it was warm even then, I could of gone further but played it safe, didn't want to overdo it in the sun as I forgot any factor 20.

Still it all helps, and I clocked another couple of PBs too.
