been same for years. still like hearing others efforts tho, and dont mind if folk hear mine and dont like it. we all hear different, and that has been hammered home by using my nura headphones. in fact ive found that my hearing can change on a daily basis.

nice pics and set up by way Shaun.

edit. I might add as much as i like others systems ive never striven to copy them. You should choose your own road.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

    Same here, I admit.

I know what I want and like and know how to achieve it. A simpler setup can give me that, so I'm going to radically alter my system.

I admire you for that decision.

Grant I also have never tried to copy others with the purchase of 'their' system. I have 'my' sound, a sound I love and that is what I currently experience on a day to day basis. What I always wanted was a beautiful vocal tone and air and space so I knew it had to be valves, but these Spendors are just sublime. Their resolution is amazing. Once I discovered subwoofers I had the cream as well as the cake, and, once I shifted vinyl out of my life I simplified and destressed everything.

And Geoff, even though I admire what you are about to do, I have to admit that I couldn't do the same. I am so pleased with my system at the moment that I just couldn't do it.

A year down the line though and things could be so different. They have been in the past.

Maybe I'm just getting (even more) antisocial.
LOL Jerry, maybe it is an age thing.

I understand totally what you've just said. Of course I'm not about to start streaming or any such bollocks and I do not own any kind of pad or tablet but I so understand your comments. I do not visit dealers and shows, I have no interest in another's system, I only follow the music. We very definitely can find our own way.

It's partly 'cos I'm getting older mate and just want less 'stuff'. Particularly big stuff. So the hefty valve monos and big Tannoys will eventually go, even though they sound fantastic. I hardly play records, so one simple deck for occasional use will be kept.
