I can confirm that Fidele Audio know their Quads. I use a Fidele Audio 34ST with my 405-3.

    What is the 'Quad' sound?

There is no specific Quad power amp sound. The 606 and following derived models are powerful and smooth. The 303 is warmish and quite clean, but not desperately revealing. The 405's are livelier and punchier than the 303 and the 306 is surprisingly open and musical.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

To answer a question I've been getting quite a bit.

No, I do not have any hum from the amp.
Yes I have a slight pfft pfft sound when powering off. (Like my sound effects!)

I'm using this with Edingdales which are very sensitive. Maybe the pfft sound is due to that.

It is a very impressive amp. Better than I expected.
