WTD Nakamichi PA-5 or PA-7. Anybody got one lurking? Or considering a system change? Any condition as long as working, price per condition.

Current system 1210 GR. CDP - Meridian G08. Amp -Sugden A21I - Sig. Wharfedale Lintons.
You and me both Mike - would love to have a PA-7. A mate has a near mint boxed one, but refuses to sell it to me.
Good luck with the search.

From one who's owned and sold both amps - forget the PA5 in original form, as it's too 'HiFi' in presentation in my opinion. The PA5mk2 took hours to warm up but had a little more 'humanity' in the sound. The PA7 in both forms was better, but again it took two hours from switch-on to come on song.

I did, but I didn't have to pay the electricity bills back then and they weren't frugal in idle mode These things are thirty years old now and although they didn't cook their components as old Krells do, I'd want to treat them with a little respect. Old Naim's only take 45 minutes or so to be practically 'there' and leaving them on 24/7 actually effed up the alignment which was important in this geriatric circuit, hence the need for servicing every few years in the older models (I think the latest stuff is rather better in this regard as some subtle changes have been done in component choice and layout, if nothing else).

Steve heard a 30 year old Krell yesterday. Didn't sound like it had cooked anything.
Lotsbof 'concern' about old Amos bitbin my experience, the old amps were built properly and with the superb cooling system they had, you should have minimal issues.
Alan and I removed four capacitors from the Krell, which were nearest the heat and they still measured well withing tolerance. So we'll that they didn't need to be changed.
