Wise precaution, it usually takes sometime for the bugs to be ironed out.

Yup, but thought Mojave had been around long enough now for that to have happened?

Took a while to download and install, even with having very fast broadband!

I have been using the Mac for over 10 years now and my experience downloading their new OSX operating systems has not always been good. When there is a bug it can be very annoying if you loose info or something gets corrupted. I found on an older Mac it was happy with Yosemite but constantly crashed with El Capitan. You may find in later years some operating systems seem happier on your laptop but as Apple move toward the future newer systems maybe more tricky.

Your Mac I believe is fairly new Marco so should be a breeze installing next few years of updates.

Bought a 15” Pro before Christmas, upgraded to Mojave when it came out. My first Mac, bit of a learning curve coming from a Vaio, though my last two mobiles have been Apple and have had an iPad for a few years. Agree on Dark Mode, I like it.
“Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

Aye - and there's the rub

I have an old form factor Mac Mini from the 'Noughties stashed in a box that I've had to keep for running a Nikon 35mm film scanner - runs on OS10.5 (Leopard) which is the last OS that I still could get the scanner to work with. That scanner is worth more to me than all the Mac gadgets I've had since (iPods, iPhones, iPads etc) but even they have a limited life span of Mac OS support

Interesting, Jim. Had no problem either installing OSX, from whatever OS came before that (I forget now). Unlike Mike, I have no other 'tech devices' to consider at home, which the Mac has struggled to be compatible with. I always like to keep what I've got though, as updated as possible, and that includes the 'smart' devices in my AV system [TV, amp and Blu-ray player].

As soon as a software update becomes available, I download and install it immediately.

Nice one, Ali. It's a quality machine. I also made the transition from a Sony Vaio Windoze laptop, running Vista, to a Mac Pro. It was like going from driving a Morris Minor to an Alfa!

Lol, yes the Pro is a very fast machine. I paid extra for the faster processor and more memory.

I’d installed a SSD in the Vaio which made a big difference. It’s a great machine which is why I’d kept it so long, never really saw anything I wanted to replace it with. The Pro was the only way to go imo, since Sony no longer make pc’s.

I’d have had another Vaio if they still made them.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
