Ollie what settings are available in voluminous/ jriver for upsampling? In piecoreplayer you have full control over filter settings and other parameters, I found tweaking these made a large improvement with my Kali/TDA1541 combo

Ah, well now we're talking a language I'm not great at.

Volumio says it can upscale to 32/196 I think, Jriver does 32/3?? But the DAC chip doesn't allow that. The max is 32/196

Please note, I am not 100% sure of the 196 number. It may be slightly different

A Bel canto recently went up against the Pi and got hammered. I think a pi with spdif out to the Bel canto would create an interesting test though and solely blame the USB input for its poor showing. However, I still think the pi with its options and superb sound quality will prove too much value for people to ignore.[/QUOTE]

Ollie, I know you didn't get on with the Caiman seg but if you ever want to want to hear my digione through it, it may change your mind about what the seg is capable of.

Can someone please clarify upsampling in Volumio. I have it set to 24/96, but still shows as 44.1/16 on the playback screen. This is whilst playing files from as USB stick.

Placed an order for a Allo Boss 1.2 and isolator board today after being impressed with Alans demo.

I already have the version 1 boss in my own system so looking forward to seeing what the updated board and isolator bring.

Oh, and Ive ordered the latest pi just for good measure.

Did you order the 1.2 isolator? Its a better fit for the Boss and Pi rig.

From what Alan tells me, it requires a different voltage, the 1.2 uses the same Voltage as the Pi and DAC, requiring no extra messing about.

Personally, I'd cancel the order and buy the 1.2 version.

I know that's probably a ball ache but I'm just advising my opinion.

The LPSU took a couple of weeks this time, nearly a month last time so schedule for a month.
