Default Velleman 8020 Pre Amp ( updated )

Velleman 8020 Pre Amp that's been updated with the info gained on this page ...

    http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1826/

See the Schematic links for the changes made.

I believe this disconnects the +6db gain option but it doesn't need it anyway as it has plenty.

I bought it after I sold my Promitheus TVC passive pre and it made an immediate difference for the better, more dynamic, more impact but still has clarity and detail too.

For the money it's a great little pre amp, and you can try different valves of course, I have Seimens Mica 3's in it at the moment, but it will be supplied with the Valvo valves that it came to me with. ( I'm keeping the Siemens )

A few little marks on it but nothing too noticeable in use, there is a little mark on the top edge of the fascia but only seen if you look closely.

£225 including postage within the UK.

Still for sale, happy to swap or part ex for similar size pre.

DAC/Pre considered too but must have a great Pre side, the DAC/Pres engineer tried so far haven't been great on Pre output.

Nice pre Mike I had thought about this when one came up previously about a year ago in a rather tragic sale (is this the same one?).

Can I ask where in the article the reviewer lists the upgrades so they can be replicated? Did you do them yourself?
    Thanks, Lawrence

If you look on page 2 of the link I posted called powering it up, you'll see a schematic link that shows the changes made to improve the amp.

Firebottle did the work for me.

I think it's the same one as you mentioned.

    Cheers

    Mike.

Right, this is back up for sale after I decided to keep it months ago. However I've done a deal for a new pre amp so this is surplus to requirements.

Won't be posted until the replacement arrives, which should be in a couple of weeks ( hopefully sooner ).

This really does sound good driving my Primaluna power amp and you'll wonder how the hell can it be so cheap.

So, have a look, buy it and I promise you won't be disappointed.
