True, I am a bit more cautious than her, but anyway I prefer her to drive, as I like to look out at the scenery as we go, something I can't properly do when driving.

As I said though, re. the snow, It never seems to be here at weekends, in the same way that the nicest sunny weather is normally on days when I have to work.

Lake District is looking nice at the moment so may take a run up there at weekend, but as my work is pretty quiet at the moment thanks to some "office politics" with my main customer, which I won't bore you with here, I'm having to watch the pennies
No worries, that's cool. We love the Lakes, especially the more out of the way, lesser known places, which is where we generally head for to escape from bloody walkers and tourists!

Check out this thread (thoroughly recommend The Langdale Hotel, btw, if you fancy treating Anita sometime): https://theartofsound.net/forum/show...th-August-2016

That's one thing about being out in the sticks in North Wales, the scenery is beautiful - and it's also generally QUIET!

I can imagine you enjoy being 'chauffeured around' on your days off, with having to drive all the time for your work. The only time Del drives is in her own car. If we're using mine, I always drive, as getting behind the wheel of the Brabster is lots of fun, especially now with the sound system that's in it!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Well I could do in theory but, as I use a desktop PC at work rather than a laptop, I’d have to drive into work to grab a spare laptop in order to work from home!

Can’t do it from my home PC due to all our IT security requirements, which are incredibly stringent due to the military work done by our parent company.

Noted - then always keep a spare laptop in your car, or at home, for those very occasions!

Or buy yourself a laptop of your own, to keep at home, and use that. I find my Mac indispensable for that purpose, especially for using out in the garden in the summer! Couldn't be doing with the bulkiness and space-consuming nature of a PC.

Same here too, but not really bothered as I'll be indoors anyway. Treating my dad today for lunch at one of our favourite country pubs: http://www.druidinn.co.uk/index.html

The local real ales are superb, as is the food!

God, no. I hate laptops and only use one when I absolutely have to. They never have enough USB sockets, many don’t have CD-ROM drives any more and I loathe using those stupid trackpads instead of a proper mouse.

More importantly, though, I only want to do work at work, or in the study at home, and nowhere else! If I’m just surfing for the hell of it on the sofa or in the garden, then I use an iPad.

Lol - shows you how different we are!

I loathe being propped up in front of a home 'PC workstation', isolated from the rest of the house, when I could be posting on here (as I am now) relaxing in a comfy recliner chair, with my Mac Pro on my lap, the wood burner on, listening to some choons or watching a film...

Or in the summer, sat outside on the patio, writing bollox on here, whist sipping a chilled glass of Prosecco

Can't do that in the study - well I guess you could, but it wouldn't quite be the same!

Anyway, in future it would be a good idea to keep one of your work's laptops in the car or at home, for those heavy-snow days.......

But that's my point. If I'm surfing the internet generally, looking at eBay or posting on forums, then this is not "work" and I'll do it anywhere inside or outside the house, usually with musical, televisual or alcoholic accompaniment!

If I'm doing 'proper' work, though - writing a review; doing my tax return etc. - then I want to be tucked away in the study, on my own and with no disturbances or distractions. And using something with a proper keyboard, a proper mouse and nice big screen!
