Home and sitting with a cuppa...
    An update.

From Rega's own Site, the Headline features of the deck:

    1 Ultra-lightweight plinth
2 DB Technology (Double Brace Technology)
    3 RB3000 tonearm
    4 Ceramic Platter
5 24v Low noise motor assembly
    6 EBLT Drive Belts
7 PL10 PSU custom matched advanced power supply.

    More info here: http://www.rega.co.uk/planar-10.html
Mines came factory fitted with Rega's new Apheta 3 MC cartridge.

Few more pics from last nights unboxing:

Handy "cut out and keep" guide...

Power Supply and speed controller - Metal case in the style of Rega's new high end electronics.

Rear panel showing XLR type connection to power the deck's motor, as aell as micro speed adjustment.
    (ooo...and a fuse to swap out... )

Finally out the box, wired up and put on the rack

Double belt pully with Regas latest and greatest new belt type:

    New RB3000 arm

Blurb from the website is interesting:
"The tolerance of the RB3000 tonearm is so tight that no adhesive is used at any point throughout the construction.
The RB3000 tonearm uses our advanced, preloaded zero tolerance bearing assembly adjusted to less than 1000th of a mm.
This gives friction free movement and zero levels of unwanted play."

Level of engineering is immense here.
This is a good shot to show the foam construction of the plinth?

And the Apheta 3 MC cartridge:

Comes with a free platter - what a bargain!
This ones ceramic and very very white. Looks very cool:

And a final couple of pics the P10 in its spot on the rack:

Last one, showing its (very) groovy dust cover.
Think the smoked perspex looks great against the white ceramic platter...nice contrast.

    That's all folks.
Sound impressions to follow, though first blast fresh out the box last night it sounded wonderful.
Obviously the Cart needs time to break in, as does the power supply so looking forward to enjoying its progress going forward.
I'm going to enjoy vinyl again in a big way,no doubt about it.

An interesting thing Im trying once the PSU and cartridge has fully settled in, is to use the digital side of my PS Audio Phonostage and compare the sound from it's RCA analogue outputs direct to my preamp Vs. the Turntable being converted to 24/96 or DSD on the fly into my Dac via its i2s connection.

    Will be an interesting comparison!
More to come in a wee while once I've spent some time with it.
