Happily the higher end PS Audio kit doesnt use off the shelf XLR sockets,
gold plated copper, no brass in sight.

Bought a few things.
Not big ticket items,
but just as much fun is enjoying the aspect of not needing to spend big to get good sound.
the rummaging about in the research and getting best bang for buck (Marco had a phrase for that...buggered if I can remember!) is always fun too.
