I do my best to ignore/avoid Christmas.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Mrs. P bought a tree this week, £10 from JTF. She thinks she'll be able to plant it in the garden, as it comes in a pot full of dirt. But I'm doubtful. It's staying in the garden and we'll stick some lights on the week before.

We bought a snow globe last week in Bowness. It is in the style of an old fashioned lantern, batteries keep the snow moving, and it's lit up by LEDs. Tacky or what? I don't care, the grandkids will love it

It may take, but usually they die.

Once the tap root has been damaged/snapped they’re already dying... However, it’s been known for them to take off. Plant it in fresh compost with wood ash feed and it may just give it a chance

Three wars back, we called sauerkraut "Liberty Cabbage". And we called Liberty Cabbage "Super Slaw". And back then a suitcase was known as a "Swedish Lunchbox". 'Course nobody knew that but me... anyway, "long story short" is a phrase whose origins are complicated and rambling.

Oh my god! There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Starting to feel Christmassy now, as twilight falls; my favourite time of the day in winter, as it's dark enough to make a dimly-lit room (with subdued lighting and candles, such as our lounge) look cosy andinviting, but not pitch black...

And the fire is now roaring away nicely, as I'm writing my Christmas cards, whilst enjoying a slice of Del's homemade carrot cake and sipping a cup of mulled spice tea, from my favourite online supplier: https://www.mysticbrewteas.com/colle...pice-christmas

    Lovely stuff
