Sometimes the LCD display can fade, break up and even disappear on older components. But if you google 'Fading LCD display' you'll find plenty of sites telling you how to remedy this.
I have a Pure Evoke Flow DAB radio which did this, so I followed the suggestions on one of these sites. It didn't take long, and when I put it back together and switched on - it was as bad as ever. But don't let that put you off, it may be just my lack of talent/patience.
Or you could pay someone to fix it for you. Good luck!
