    You are a daftee!

That's how it's *actually* pronounced by Germans, as it's a German name: the 'i' is pronounced as an 'e' - standard stuff with many European languages.

However, would I say it that way here? No, because it's inappropriate. Much the same as I wouldn't call Rome, 'Roma' or Paris, 'Paree'. However, if I was in Germany I'd certainly use the aforementioned pronunciation of 'Lidl', especially if I wanted to be understood...

We make up a 'Christmas plate' (a vintage hand-pained ceramic plate, in the shape of a Christmas tree), filled with all sorts of lovely chocs, and put it on the coffee table for ourselves and guests to enjoy. I'll take a pic and post it later.

The Bergs are awesome when you allow them to melt in your mouth for bit, before biting into them and releasing the lovely warm liqueur - yummy!!

The only reason to go to Lidl (pronounced 'liddle') is for the Ritter chocolate and for a root around through all the tat they have in the centre isle.

'Milka' is French chocolate though isn't it? It's okay, not my first choice though. The chocolate chain of command goes Belgian - German - Swiss - French - British - American. Do the Japs make their own chocolate? if they do I bet it is bizarre but well-engineered.

Lol - I hate Galaxy bars. If I have UK-branded milk chocolate, I prefer Cadburys, but it's all much of a muchness: too 'fatty' tasting and overly sweet, with no real taste of milk, unlike the appropriately named 'Milka', which is super-creamy and just unctious!

The acid test for good chocolate is to try and cook with it and use it in a pudding... Try melting down a Galaxy bar and see what you're left with

Of course, for cooking you should always use high-cocoa content dark chocolate, but the fact is melting down any chocolate exposes its fat content and also exactly how much actual 'chocolate' you're getting!

Yes, but that's simply the British way of pronouncing it. If you heard a German person saying it, it would sound like 'Leedle'. Yeah, the centre isle in Lidl (or Aldi) is great, and most of it isn't tat either. Their hand tools are great quality, as are many of their electrical items. I use one of their milk frothers everyday, which I've had now for over a year, and cost me a tenner!

There's also plenty more to love about Lidl or Aldi, as a lot of their food products are top notch and considerably cheaper than those of the bigger supposedly 'better' supermarkets. We do 80% of our shopping there, and you know what my standards are like for food, so that should say it all!

No, it originated in Switzerland, but is now made all over Europe. Chocolate, like anything else, is down to personal taste. I love the creaminess of Milka. However, I'd largely agree with your listed order of preference, although Italian chocolate is also very good.

The Baci/Perugina brand in particular. Check this out: https://www.baciperugina.com/intl/

Hard to find here (unless you have an Italian food shop/deli near you), but can be easily ordered online. It's STUNNING, and up there with the best German and Swiss stuff!

I may be wrong, but seem to recall it was called Marathon due to some involvement with the London Marathon race and the name was changed to disassociate it from this after some sort of deal fell through, probably sponsorship I guess.
