Both wrong. It was mass production and sold in the UK. That type of wood casing was the norm back then.
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

I stand corrected, the wood work alone on that would make that a reference peice today!

It would help if you sent a close up of what is there.
Keep in mind , all of the capacitors in that unit are suspect as most have wandered out of spec due to age.
Power supply caps could fail catastrophically.
Useing it as is before a complete service could cause alot of damage.
One bad cap can cause you to burn the rectifier, transistors or smoke the transformer.
    Electrolytic capacitors dry out .
Most likely you will need a new belt, a recap, new styles.
And rebias, tuner alignment and preamp detector pots cleaned and adjusted.
Get it looked at before putting it into service , first rule with rare old electronics is DO NO HARM.

It would be nice to see that all in one matched with these, They are voiced beautifully. and with that small 20watt per channel amp they will fill even a large room at 97db @1 watt. 44hz. to 24Khz.
The bass is really good from such a small speaker.

I note in the info posted in post 8 the replacement of a diamond Flipover stylus.
This screams ceramic cartridge, not a more modern MM type.
If this is the case i fear any expensive repairs/upgrading will be a waste....ceramic carts are at best passible and will chew through your records in no time.

    Be wary.....but good luck.

If the cartridge is a Sonotone 9TAHC or similar, ceramic cartridge, might not be too bad. If a magnetic cartridge is preferred, a small phono pre could be plugged into the tape socket.

You can (or could) get some very good ceramic cartridges. Audioflyer on here has a Philips one that performs fantastically well. Only a poor quality or damaged stylus will chew the records and you can find them on any type of cart.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

The Decca Deram was pretty good. I think I still have one in an Garrard SP25 in the loft.

Just remembered, also in the loft I have a Sony unit that looks a bit like the Sharp unit under discussion. It has a belt drive turntable and magnetic cartridge. Seem to remember that it was pretty good.
