    Default Information on my Bargain

Is my new purchase the bargain I think it is? I have obtained a Sharp Golden Sound GS5 500 for very little money..love the nostalic yet modern look which defies the passage of time..anyone else familiar or owns one of these?

What I was wondering being new to all things audio...would it be possible to connect my sharp to an amplifier? If so any suggestions for a suitable one please.

That could actually be a rather respectable bit of kit and fun to use. You don't need an amplifier to use with it, there's one built in (and a radio) that will probably drive half decent speakers quite well.

It probably has an 'aux' socket on the back that may well work OK with a CD player.

If the speaker terminals are the screw grip type be very careful wiring them up, as any loose strands of wire could short out the amp and blow it.

Having looked at some (not very clear) online photos of this unit, there appears to be one five pin DIN socket on the back, which I assume is for tape. You could possibly use this for CD if you find a player with its own output level control, there are some about.
