    Default A-Z then back

How many of you good people have swapped up to what would be considered a great set up and then settled on something far more modest. I feel I have. Started many years who with a full akai separates including turntable and wharfedale laser 60 speakers ( still got them in my barn ) some years on got into valves, horns and open baffles. Had some valve amps and several valve phono stages, bottle head 2A3, j sound labs 300B, amplifon 6C33C, PX25 mono's built by Jim turner for Jim Carfrae's Carfrae horns, to name a few. With the right speakers the PX25 were the best. Now I'm settled with a Sony 6055 receiver, using the internal phono stage driving Zu Omen, Yulong Dac ( I've had for many years ) Denon DVD/ sacd player( rarely used ) I'm as happy as a pig in shit and not looking for anything.

I suppose I should mention the only thing I haven't downgraded is the Denon DP80, got to draw the line somewhere

I would be interested to hear of others that have found contentment at a lower level kit wise.
Bakoon 13r Denon DP80 Stax UA-70 Shure Ultra 500 in a Martin Bastin body with jico stylus, project ds2 digital Rullit aero 8 field coils in tqwt speakers

Office system, DIY CSS fullrange speakers with aurum cantus G2 ribbons yulong dac Sony STR6055 receiver Jvc QL-A51 direct drive turntable, Leema sub. JVC Z4S cart is in the house

Garage system another Sony receiver, cassette deck

System components are subject to change without warning and at the discretion of the owner.

Most of my stuff is either DIY or tweaked/remodelled and sounds great to me. Most people would think it is junk

I remember hearing your 'junk' Rob. It looked and sounded pretty good to me .
It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Why thang ya kindly Sir. I was between speakers at the time and using some Mission 780SE's which are a bloody great small speaker. I sold them and wished I hadn't. However we all have a "few"(cough cough) spares to press into service. Currently enjoying some EAR open baffles which I got to work satisfactorily after a lot of fettling.

You should try them again Rob, they are pretty good....and I think they sound better than the Heresy II's that I owned twice to be honest..
