    Default Hello from Switzerland

    Hi everybody,

Dom from Zurich, Switzerland here. I am using Geithain RL906 as my monitors (lovely speakers!), and most of the time I listen to classical music. Though the Geithain monitors are amazing, I feel the urge to buy Quad ESL 57 or 63's to add some bigger speakers that are not nearfield. I hope I can find some tips and tricks and advice on this forum.

    See you around.

It is impossible for anything digital to sound analogue, because it isn't analogue!

Hi Dom and welcome to AOS

Your Geithain RL906 speakers look interesting, I've not come across them before.
Co-axial driver active monitors with top mounted ports! Fascinating!!

I look forward to future discussions about speakers and perhaps amps to drive them!

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

Thank you both. Listen to the Geithains if you can. They have a neutral sound signature, and they excel at imaging. I guess that is due to the coaxial design. The top mounted ports make them unsuitable as bookshelf speakers. But it is a clever solution for nearfield monitoring, if your desk is placed against a wall. Their midfield and main monitors are said to be fantastic as well, but i haven't heard them yet.
