Stone dressing /stain/varnish?
The previous owner of our house decided to paint the stone fireplace (inglenook type but not exactly) with white paint.
Several tubs of (very expensive) Peelaway7 and lots of scrubbing later we have it back to stone. Problem is the
wall is now very dull compared to the hearth and despite being the same stone appears slightly lighter.
What I need is some form of stain or varnish to darken it slightly and give a slight sheen (not shine) without actually changing the colour significantly or looking to "artificial"
Can anybody suggest anything please?
PS. If you think painting a stone fireplace is bad you should have seen the oak beams that were painted green
