Now we know for certain. All wires sound the same.

I'm in the cables largely don't matter camp. What he's done is a great start, but it doesn't go far enough. I'd like to see a version capable of nulls to -120db, a level at which we can't discern signal from noise.

More importantly though all he shown is that with that device cables don't matter, it doesn't mean it would hold true for a different set of input and output impedance and different input and output stage topologies.

It's one narrow test that cannot really be extrapolated to other devices. Even though the results 'should' be universal for competently built and specified kit.

I believe that is nearer -128dB depending on which audiologist you chat to!, needs to go deeper into area as well I feel.

Simon he is effectively subjecting the cables to an analytical scrutiny to identify any differences in THEiR own their properties - he is saying that they exhibit no objectively measurable parametric differences.

After 3 minutes of watching the video, I gave up. One because I was bored, and two because he was simply trotting out the same old arrogantly dogmatic objectivist bollocks about measurements automatically acting as 'conclusive proof' for what supposedly can be heard, or not, in reference to cables - when it does no such thing

It's this sort of condescending/demeaning crap, which boils my piss (taken from the feedback on the YouTube link):

Yes we do, and for good reason! Because you might not be measuring *all* that needs measured, or using the right apparatus, in order to identify the required (perhaps genuinely heard) difference.

Sorry Michael, I'm not quite sure what you hope to gain by sharing that link on what is a staunchly subjectivist, 'ears-first' forum, such as AoS. It's only destined to end as all other such discussions here usually end: in a pointless bun fight between 'cable believers' and 'non-believers'.

As such, I'm sorry, but my finger is hovering over the 'close thread' button....

And what exactly does that prove, which is of practical use to your average hi-fi enthusiast/music lover?
