    Much cheaper ones available from China that will control an Alps pot, but...
    I strongly recommend fitting a switched resistor attenuator, the Alps is a bottleneck.

    Khozmo is the best, there are slightly less expensive alternatives.

    Point 5. Use a 12V secondary transformer, there will be less power dissipation in the first two Fets.
    Steve's link should be a 12V Tx.

    thanks Alan yes Steves link is 12 v ill have think about the pot . which value should i look for in a stepped one?

    Yup, if funds are tight, go for a Valab Stepped Attenuator. He makes decent stuff for good pricing.

    Ok so attenuator madness , linear or logarithmic? What's the difference? I assume it's in how the siganl is attenuated in the rate it increases/decreases to the power amp. Does it really matter?
