“Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of fuel. Sentimental people call it inspiration, but what they really mean is fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio”

Much cheaper ones available from China that will control an Alps pot, but...
I strongly recommend fitting a switched resistor attenuator, the Alps is a bottleneck.
Khozmo is the best, there are slightly less expensive alternatives.
Point 5. Use a 12V secondary transformer, there will be less power dissipation in the first two Fets.
Steve's link should be a 12V Tx.
thanks Alan yes Steves link is 12 v ill have think about the pot . which value should i look for in a stepped one?
I tend to chose 50K.
Yup, if funds are tight, go for a Valab Stepped Attenuator. He makes decent stuff for good pricing.
Yeah have bought some bits form him before always reliable and good prices.
Ok so attenuator madness , linear or logarithmic? What's the difference? I assume it's in how the siganl is attenuated in the rate it increases/decreases to the power amp. Does it really matter?
