sometimes resoldering and desoldering it again will clear it.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

Try to apply the iron tip to all 3 legs and pull it out quickly to avoid cooking.
Put a large blob of solder across 2 legs to start with if your tip isn't that big.

if you have enough length in the legs why not just cut them to remove?

well i was hoping to reuse the component. Not sure there would be enough leg left to resolder if i did that.

Personally, I'd cut it off. I have a few spare bits, so I'll check the stock and if I have some I'll send you some down mate.

The amount of heat you've put through the FET trying to remove it may kill it too. Then you may have to remove it again!

They aren't expensive either to be fair. We've all done that though, wrong part or wrong way round. Learn from it and slow down a little. The excitement to get it done takes over sometime

Yeah i have a spare but will try Alans way 1st as it would be good practice for me to try. If I get frustrated I can always go the more " surgical" route
