Default Any thoughts on the Marantz cd6006 UK edition?

This player seems to have got good reviews when it came out last year and is now going for a decent price. Does anyone have any experience of listening to it? I'm more interested in sound quality than anything else, it would be connected to a Rega Brio R. Would be great to hear your thoughts.

I don't have experience of the 6006 but I had a 6005 for some time and I can safely say it was a cracking machine. The sound quality was amazing for a budget player, the build quality was very good too. I really rate Marantz equipment, I don't think you'd be disappointed with the 6006 if the 6005 is anything to go by.

A friend preferred a Marantz 6005 as a transport to the well touted CXC, so I would say go for it.

I bought a Marantz CD6005 a few years back from a local hi-fi dealer and thought it was pretty good but then I bought an Audiolab M-DAC and used the Marantz as a transport. Earlier this year I bought a Cambridge Audio CXC and was amazed at how much better it is as a transport than the CD6005. The increase in timing and clarity is now fantastic compared to how it used to be. The Marantz was given to my sister who now uses it as her main CD player.
