Isn't AoS built on free software?, yes there will be annual costs to keep the forum running and the domain name, but I can't see them being too high.

Also, you have moderators, but I assume that they are not paid for their efforts?

    .
Yeah I wish. The only thing the moderators get is grief.

There's now a huge amount of traffic on this forum consequently the running costs are a lot higher than for some other hi-fi forums you may be familiar with. Wigwam and PFM both have the same issue and consequently both solicit contributions (and have a lot of ads in the case of wigwam). The alternative is to have adverts plastered all over the place like some of the yank forums and nobody wants that.
    Current Lash Up:

    TEAC VRDS 701T > Sony TAE1000ESD > Krell KSA50S > JM Labs Focal Electra 926.

Additionally, if someone was to contribute, does that automatically give them a right to dictate or question the running of the forum, or would they be expected to be a silent partner?

It would be good to have a breakdown of where my money would be going if I chose to invest, especially as you already have ads, traders and now members contributing.
I thought this post was a wind-up initially.

Just a small point, folks... For those of you who would like to make a donation, but don't have a Paypal account, please PM me, where payment by cheque of bank transfer can be arranged instead (as indeed someone has just done, which prompted this post). Cheers!

Thanks for all of the varied responses.

I do however take exception to my note being described as either a wind up or f***ing rude. The only thing rude was those statements.

Whilst I am no longer a prolific poster on this forum, due to both personal circumstances, I now have a 1 year old son who takes priority, and I favor another forum, i do keep an eye on this forum and as I do a number of others.

I felt I was well within my right as a member of this forum to request the information that I have and am content with some of the responses.

Because I am entirely unclear where the money I could invest would be going, I am afraid I won't contribute, but I do wish the forum well and will continue to look in from time to time.
