    Default Greetings

Hello good people of sound land. I've had a look around the site and it looks jam packed with knowledgeable folk with a trained ear in all things Hifi. Ruddy marvellous say I, exactly what I'm looking for. I'll give you and idea of my kit.

Musical Fidelity X A2 amp, with Rega Fono stage. Cyrus CD transport with Micromega BS2 DAC. Quad 21L speakers with QED XT400 cables. Plus a Musical Fidelity V90 Headphone amp and matching cans.

I'm a Bowie freak and Station to Station is my all time favourite album. Any resistance to this stance will mean instant Imprisonment for life with a Boris Johnson clone Lady Boy! My other musical tastes are much varied with everything from Ohio Players to Can to Slade to Syd Barrett and pretty much everything inbetween, with the exception of 'Metal'. Ooohhhh noooo thanks.

My little set up is fairly modest and as you can see is in need of some upgrades. A new DAC is first in my sites, maybe followed by a new amp. To be fair, the current set up sounds pretty fab, so I want to get upgrades right and hopefully I can get some pointers from the expertise on this forum. But I do realise some of the components are getting close to Vintage status.

Anyway, that's me. I look forward to learning.

    Hi Michael,

I'll pass on the Boris Johnson clone thanks, last time he came round he broke my toilet and denied all knowledge - tbh I expected better. Surprisingly good at karaoke though.

    Welcome to the forum.

Hi Michael, always good to see another Bowie fan. Station to station is a cracking album, it came from such a creative period. Aladdin Sane is my favourite but pretty much anything Bowie is fine by me.....except Tin Machine of course lol.
I'm surprised Steve turned down the ladyboy option, he's usually keen on the exotic stuff.... hahaha.

He was just a bit too butch for me, and not nearly flexible enough. He sang a cracking cover of 'Wild is the Wind' though, even better than the original dare I say. But not so much Thin White Duke, more Fat White Dork.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”
