    Default Thiel CS 1.2

These hold their own against a good few speakers that I’ve had .
Not sure why it says do not use without the grills ??

I had a pair of the larger Thiel 2.3 - happily for Stan Beresford they handily saw off a pair of Yammie 1000M imo, Stan bought the Yams from me!
The same sloped back cab, but with a concentric tweeter/mid and a passive bass radiator.
Very neutral and fast, with seriously taut bass. I kept them for quite a while.

Do the grilles have inserts that match the cab profile? - if so, I suspect they are designed to minimise diffraction edge effects from the sharp profile of the driver mount panel.

I recall the excellent Stereophile review of the 1.2 from when it was first published - it was that that put Thiel on my Want List, they sounded like my sort of speaker, and I wasn't disappointed when I finally got a pair of Thiels.

They kind of remind me of one of my favourite speakers, the rega ela but with bass

To be fair, they’re a bit ugly without them...
