    Default Tannoy 609 II

    Hello there,
I have recently bought a pair of Tannoy 609 II.

I wonder how they relate to other DC series speakers, as the DC6, DC100/200, System 800/600 or similar.

    Thanks to all.

I had a pair of later 63x floorstanders, they sounded eerily lifelike with horns but there was a strange cuppy or hollow character to some music I couldn't live with. Might just have been my ears though, I know some people like them.

The 609 driver is a version of the driver used in the i6 mini PA speaker and is a nice unit.

Steer clear of the DC100 and DC200, they are the worst Tannoy dual concentrics I've heard.

The System 600 are very nice and the System 800 are even better and will run circles around any of the six inch jobs.

All the foregoing employ the tulip waveguide coaxial horn tweeter. Not the 'Pepperpot' compression horn as in the HPD's etc.

    Sorry Geoff,
what about the DC6, XT6 or similar?

The System 800 are quite rare to find.
    Unfortunately I didn't buy the Ninanina's ones.

Are the Eatons so much better?

    Cheers
