Default Using de-mineralised water for vinyl cleaning

    Hi

It's virtually impossible to find a source of distilled water to use with the knosti cleaner here in Italy but de-mineralised water is readily available- would it be suitable to use or not? (Procedure: wash with de-mineralised water and 'Winyl Pro Clean 6' solution followed by rinse in separate knosti bath) Any opinions as to suitability or otherwise? Thanks!

Is the 'demineralised water' the same as 'de-ionised water'? If it is I wouldn't worry.

From the net:" Deionization and demineralization, while being similar, have key differences. Deionization removes ionized salt from the water. Demineralization removes minerals from the water such as calcium, magnesium and many others"

In praxis and for your application it makes little difference.

Is it an option for you to get some from a pet shop? I get pure H2o from a shop near me that sells tropical fish etc.

Presumably there is a Halfords equivalent there?

Get battery top up water, that’s de-ionised.

DI and Demin are basically the same, just different terminology as they use the same process to remove the Ion's.

However there is no industry standard for either as their applications can vary depending on what it is used for.Purchasing either is a lottery as if the conductivity of the water is not stated on the product, you could be buying tap water or worse.

You should be able to source EU pharma grade water in Italy, might cost a bit more, but it will be manufactured by an accredited company.

Whilst I was working in analytical labs we used DM and HPDM water for allsorts of jobs. If we ever got them muddled with each other it never ever showed up in the analysis. Personally I'd get the cheapest.
