Just thought I'd share this with anyone thats remotely interested...
I bought a pair of Mansfield cabinets a few weeks back, they were in pretty poor shape but still sound enough to work with
so a little bit of joint glueing and cramping was required
then fabricate some new plywood baffles
now glued & sanded so laminating the cabs with a high gloss olive wood
cabs with new baffles fitted
now fully clad in olive wood and the original black beading re fitted
fabricated some grille surrounds
fitting new crossovers
fitting 12" golds
not far off now
grilles fitted
Just the badges to fit (still in the post) but quite chuffed with how they look, giving the Mansfield/Lancaster a more contemporary look.
I have to say I'm thrilled with the sound of these, I think the extra thick 1 1/2" front baffle combined with the laminate has given the old cabinets a lot more rigidity, well worth the effort
