    Default A60 Mod technician

Does anyone know a technician in the UK who would upgrade/mod an A&R Cambridge A60 amp?

I'm losing track of the all the makes I have repaired or modified but I can certainly help.

I am in the West Midlands.

Just out of interest, why would you prefer to mod an A60 rather than spend the money on a different amp? Not implying anything, just interested as not heard of it before. I had one once but it was faulty so I passed it on.

I bought one of these new in the mid 80s and used it almost daily for 30 years. It then kind of went in to hibernation as I dabbled in a box swapping phase. But now it is back in daily use again.

Totally untouched since new, it could probably do with some attention, but it still sounds great, so I’m just going to leave it.

    A fantastic piece of kit.

    Hey Lawrence

    So many reasons. So many...

    And no offence taken.

Almost bought one in 1986, but went for a Plinius pre/power amp instead.

    1. I like the way it presents music.
    2. It's age. Something cool about having a 35 year old amp.
    3. I use it at work. Great sounds in a classroom, with 9-10 year olds.
    4. It's unassuming - doesn't look like much, so won't get stolen.

But it really comes down to it's sound.

I have had a few of them. The one I was last using, I lost to a daughter two weeks ago.
Had bought her a Cyrus 3, but it didn't work. Took my work A60 to her house in the interim while the Cyrus is being fixed.
She liked the look of the A60! Lost my Quad 11L speakers to her as well.

Although I have another A60 (needs repairing), I'm after the same.
But if I can get it sounding even better? Double bonus!

So hoping to end up with:

    Modded/upgraded A&R Cambridge A60
    Beresford Bushmaster II (venom/serum mods)
    Mission 780 speakers

M2Tech HiFace Two USB to S/PDIF converter
    Atlas Compass coax cable
    Merlin Vivaldi interconnects
    QED Revelation speaker cables
