You can buy the Dorado with the low noise linear power supply charger to charge up the Dorado, and keep it topped up. If you already have a linear power supply that you are using with the Caiman then you can continue to use that. But if you don't have a linear power supply, then the one that can be bought together with the Dorado is an alternative option.

I upgraded the SEG firmware and installed the Dorado PSU with charger tonight and one word. Astonishing!

Has to be heard to be believed. I'm gobsmacked.

Anyone considering these two upgrades should beg borrow or steal the dosh to buy them.

    Thanks Stan.

God only knows what's going on here but I certainly don't

I plumbed in the fettled seg with the new firmware and dorado yesterday.

Sat with my son last night for a few hours, we were both genuinely taken aback at just how much of an improvement they have brought.

Im using one of Stans power supplies with the dorado so no fancy linear supply BUT...Stan has enabled the dorado to be fed charge via this supply and still output 15v reaping all the sonic benefits.

I then plumbed seg/dorado into my av set up....boy oh boy-John Wick 2 the opening sequence with car crashes and fights!!!

    Really rather special imho.

will endevour to get listening on cans to work out whats going on sonically.

The science behind how I designed the Dorado, and how it does what it does is complex. But what matters is that it delivers the goods Far too many people out there only know how to copy things. I am kind of proud of myself to have once again made another breakthrough in the design of a product that is giving so many music lovers great pleasure .

Couple of things I'm noticing is that the bass is really well defined and low.

I'm using Spendor S3/5R2s which are just bookshelf speakers but the bass now is pretty deep compared to before the upgrades.

Also there's clarity or more of it than before, especially with voices and the sound is even more analogue sounding than it was before.

My main digital source is an old-ish Denon streamer, a DNP 720-AE, which sounded fantastic with Stan's SEG but it's sounding even better now.

Probably the best £70 odd that I've spent on my hifi.

I installed 2 Dorados and firmware upgrades on my SEGs today and I’m delighted with the results. Everything sounds cleaner and more defined. Music sounds more three dimensional. Instruments have more sparkle to them. TV and DVD Dialogue is clearer and sound effects are more realistic.

I use Maplins CB radio linear power supplies. I had to tweak the trim pot in one of them to get the voltage high enough to turn the Dorado’s light green. Installing the firmware was pretty straight forward. Just take time and care with the legs on the chip and it’s fine. :-)

Well worth the upgrade. Thanks, Stan!
