Default What is this gauge used for ?

The needle moves from left to right when the gauge is tilted from left to right.

    Any ideas please ?

Clearly it is the Cruise-Ometer, built in the late 50's, early 60's. It was used when "cruising" for chicks at the local hangouts. 0-10 on the scale, not much likely to happen, forget it and head home. Start pushing that 60 to 70 things looking much better, pegging out at 80 plus, your in.

Notice too, it has two settings, one for when you are on an airplane, you know, for the "Mile-High Club", and then the On the Ground setting for the regular cruising methods....

I did wonder if the wording “ on ground “ meant gagging for it !

I would guess it is an oil pressure gauge, the pressure will be lower when at altitude.

Well perhaps I should add the fact that the needle moves from left to right when the gauge is tilted from left to right .

whatever it is, its suggesting only too factors...cruising, which could mean a few things, and on ground which suggests not in the air . interesting that it goes up about 50% at beginning then a bit less as the scale goes higher. manifold pressure maybe

It's actually from the instrument panel of a WW2 German V1 flying bomb cockpit.
