    at first glance i thought it was an oversized crt booster/tester but the insides changed that. looks like gears in it

    I vote for this. The 'aerial' looks like a shutter release cable to me. Probably for astro photography.

    I vote for a machine to undertake time lapse photography (including for astro photography as already mentioned).

    These days there are relatively simple electronic controls to set the intervals for shutter release. But your machine will definitely have appeal to the time lapse photographers out there due to its seemingly quality build. Check out the time lapse forums such as this one.

    yup, i will go with that as it looks to have a mechanical timer in it.
