I've just put mains lamp on the strobe markings, and its way off stable. Is it generating its own (independent) flash for the platter?

Mines 100v, but still running off 50hz

As far as I’m concerned there is only one way of defining turntable speed consistency and that is by using the algorithm Paul R (Ruggles) of pfm offers (has designed). This was capable of showing the cogging of the recording lathe in the test record used when I measured my own deck and is far beyond simple wow and flutter measurement.

Background, I'm considering buying Keystrobe for my Garrard 301 (independent frequency locked light source), I normally use mains powered lamp to read the strobe on the platter, its near enough for my clothears.

As the Sony is next to the Garrard, I shone the light on the platter to find the markings running fast on the mains lamp, but rock solid off the inbuilt light.

I was wondering if the Sony had its own frequency generator for the strobe?

Off to put Garrard platter on Sony

Edit, Sony and Garrard platters aren't synchronised

The Independent Strobe Light in the Link, is close to Half the price of the Keystrobe.
If it is suitable it will be a few ££'s saved.

    Hi Mark
I have a TTS under the knife as you know, when it is done, if you wish, we can cross paths and you can give it a audition.
I can pass on the Phonotherm as well.
I'm very domestically busy at present, so it will be in the New Year hopefully before Easter.
