Thats lovely Jamie, did the ebony bend all on its own or did you heat/steam to persuade it?
I've resisted veneering my plinths, due to lack of workspace (done quite a lot professionally) but this has really inspired me, thanks for sharing

A chunk of Black Acrylic as thick as your drawing perceives would cost a significant amount
12mm from memory, tinted so semi transparent. We use a fair amount of acrylic so no issue on cost..
