i let the 2 ends over lap each other and cut through both then glued them down.im not bothered about a small visable glue line as its at the back, although the stripey figuring would make it easy to paint out with pigments.

Does it not bug you the veneers grain not meeting in uniform? Why i used to put a thin Ebony strip down it.. I am a nutter tho..

nope as its at the back, putting the ebony line down the joint makes it stand out even more in my mind.

a bit more work at the weekend,so i can get a good rounded over top and bottom edge i inlayed some 2.3mm black ebony lines.the actual size when bought is 2.7mm but this looked a bit heavy so i made my rebate 2.3mm.
both top and bottom edges routed.
bottom line glued in using hide glue and first sanding to level it flush.
top black line glued in just finished 1st sanding and rounding both over.the veneer has been dampened to raise the grain prior to next sanding stage.

SO WHEN I MENTIONED A BLACK STRIPE. YOUR EXACT POST WAS
nope as its at the back, putting the ebony line down the joint makes it stand out even more in my mind.
YOU KNOW AND I KNOW TOGETHER WITH THAT STRIPE YOU JUST PUT AROUND IT WOULD LOOK GOOD
I shall ofc wait for some bollox to justify this.
you were talking about the back where the 2 ends of the veneer meet, not the edges!
please go and thread crap somewhere else.
