Is the Goldring G101 any good?

No, it’s not great. Flimsy platter assembly and it has a tiny groove in its motor pulley designed for a specific belt you can’t buy any more (triangular cross section IIRC). Hence, finding a replacement belt that makes it run at the right speed can be a challenge (no variable speed either).

    I wouldn’t bother, personally.

Pretty horrible really. Certainly not worth re-plinthing.

For the money being asked these days, you can pick up a trusty little Pioneer PL-12D. A far better proposition.

Quite naff. If you want a project, go for a GL75.

I have recently bought a GL 75, great fun refurbishing it, loads of data around to help.

They can sound very good when finished.
