What about electricity? I could look after the generators for you, if you get ones that run on scrumpy.

No SMPS allowed anywhere on the island.

We'll use kidnapped Tory politicians to power the treadmills that provide the juice. Just suspend a big bunch of fifty pound notes in front of their noses, just out of reach, they'll keep tramping towards it all day.

“Nothing discloses real character like the use of power. It is easy for the weak to be gentle. Most people can bear adversity. But if you wish to know what a man really is, give him power. This is the supreme test. It is the glory of Lincoln that, having almost absolute power, he never abused it, except on the side of mercy".

“You see these dictators on their pedestals, surrounded by the bayonets of their soldiers and the truncheons of their police ... yet in their hearts there is unspoken fear. They are afraid of words and thoughts: words spoken abroad, thoughts stirring at home -- all the more powerful because forbidden -- terrify them. A little mouse of thought appears in the room, and even the mightiest potentates are thrown into panic.”

"You don't have free will. You have the appearance of free will.”

“There's a war out there, old friend. A world war. And it's not about who's got the most bullets. It's about who controls the information. What we see and hear, how we work, what we think... it's all about the information!”

I can confirm that you can run a tory politician on scrumpy. So no problems there.

Some good ideas here lads keep them coming.

No, you can't make their incarceration enjoyable, our prison system shows that doesn't work. I would suggest standing behind them with whips, but they'd probably enjoy that too.

If you'd like to crowd fund a fact finding trip to Madeira I'm willing to volunteer.
As to getting down the hills, we could extend this network

Madeira is basically just a bleedin' great mountain with a few towns scattered around it. Take a look just up the road at the Azores, much more user friendly.

The state pension age will reach 68 which is far too high in my view. The bible mentions three score years and ten but although life expectancy has generally improved, I dont want to live long if I cant see or dress myself.

The elephant is that if people are working longer then what room in the job market for new entrants? The job I first did exists on a much lower level (50% lower) and is gradually being taken over by machines.

Of course they cant afford it because they have buried their heads in the sand on this problem. Youve done well to even collect on the state pension. I have a private pension which I am going to massively top up and claim from 55 or 60 at the latest.

Im opting out of the workplace pension to fund my pension scheme.

Of course anyone doing financially well in life plans to retire much earlier. Nearer 50 seems the ideal age
