All fairly meaningless really - the result I got this morning is way faster than what I got last night (or most evenings in fact).
Saturday evening is one of the peak times for downloads and heavy usage will take the speeds way down (which accounts for the poor results in London versus more remote parts of the UK)
Also, we live in a 'Virgin user' heavy neighbourhood as Diamond Cable got in here fairly quickly with fibre optic years ago and did a heavy promo long before they re-branded as a Branson Pickle.

Diamond Cable were early innovators in fibre optic and moved into our town over 20 years ago - I think at the time they were linked to Kingston Communication in Hull which is just up the road from us so they got down here fairly quickly. Also aided by the fact that a new University was being built in Lincoln so they had a big client to boost investment.
I think it's now owned by Cisco, the US giant ... Virgin is (as usual) just the pretty frock it uses to beguile the Brits. I still have an NTLWorld email account
