Love to have Virgin but we are not in a cabled area. Road next door is.
But still with plusnet (part of BT and using Openreach backhaul) we get 74mb down and about 19mb up. Also importantly ping (latency) is in low single figures so pretty instant responses.
Important (when using copper) to plug the modem (often within the router) into the BT master socket - plugging it into an extension you can easily lose half (or more) bandwidth and speed.
Equally when measuring bandwidth and speed use a fast machine that has a direct connection to the router (e.g. via ethernet). Measuring via wifi will give very misleading results.

Yes mine was done via WiFi and on my iPhone which I believe has a maximum download/upload speed of 20meg ( or so I was told ) .
I have a white box on the outside wall which was installed many years ago when we first got BT infinity.

Don't think iPhones are speed limited. Just tried using an ancient iPhone here and getting nearly 40mb down.
I use an android phone. Once (in a museum if I recall) I got 300mb down / 300mb up. Love to have that at home!

Much can depend on the equipment you use too. And if anything else is using it. And distance from wifi output etc.
For instance my slow laptop upstairs only gets 13 Mbps but wifi on phone upstairs gets about double that.
Just checked phone and with Netflix on I got this
So it will be faster in living room and the laptop down there is newer and on an Ethernet so will be a bit better than this but not a lot.
I'm not going to get up to try tho lol
